Arnold R. Lindquist, age 76, of Waterville, passed away at Community Memorial Health Care on Tuesday, August 2, 2016.

Arnold was born on January 23, 1940, at the home of his parents Nellie C. (Zeissett) and Ernest R. Lindquist. He was confirmed in 1953 at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Waterville. He attended Harbaugh Country School until it closed. In 1958 he graduated from Waterville, High School and received the State Farmer Award. A few years after high school he joined the Kansas Army National Guard. On June 11, 1967, he married Deanna L. Sainer at Independence, Kansas.

Arnold farmed with his father and brother on the family farm and eventually went into partnership with his brother Dewayne. For several years after high school he also worked as a carpenter, when he was not busy on the farm. In 1966, he established the A&D Lindquist Fence Company in partnership with his brother. The company was dissolved thirteen years later. Arnold worked on the family farm his entire life.

Arnold was also involved in many church and civic activities. He was a member of the Waterville United Methodist Church, where he served as treasurer. He was a Bible study leader and Sunday school teacher. He was also a member of Gideons International, Brothers in Blue prison ministry, and Springer Post 332 of the American Legion. He had previously served on the USD 498 School Board, Waterville Co-op Board, Cottage Hill Township Board and was treasurer of the Harbaugh Cemetery Board.

He enjoyed deer hunting and attending K-State Football and bowl games. He loved the Lord and tried to be a faithful follower of His word every day. His greatest joys were witnessing to others, being with his family, spending time at “the cabin” in Estes Park, traveling and working on the family farm.

Survivors include his wife Deanna, his three daughters; Gay (Keith) Stewart of Manhattan, Cindy Tessman and fiancé Kevin Watson of Columbia, Missouri, and Lisa (Rob) Stryker of Waterville, a sister Marlaine (Merlin) Potts of Leonardville, and by five grandchildren.
