Marc Lamoreaux, age 97, of Waterville, passed away at Blue Valley Senior Living in Blue Rapids, on Wednesday, May 4, 2016.

Marc was born on September 12, 1918, at Concordia, to Henry G. and Iva M. (Knudsen) Lamoreaux. He graduated from Waterville High School with the class of 1937. He then married Anne Powell on October 22, 1939, at Belleville, Kansas. She passed away on February 21, 2007.

Marc was a contractor building homes and commercial buildings. He and his brother John were the owners of Lamoreaux Homes in Waterville.

Marc was a life member of the Marshall County Railroad Historical Society, and a former member of the Waterville Chamber of Commerce, Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association, the Midwest Old Thrashers Association of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, and the Waterville Rodeo Association.

He was known for generosity, innovation, storytelling about the “olden days”, love of flying, narrow gauge railroads, steam engines, building things, Mt. Pleasant, Waterville, the old Weaver Hotel, Colorado, and Harry Truman. In so many ways, he lived a fascinating and amazing life.

Survivors include his three children; Charles G. Lamoreaux of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Yvonne F. (Glenn) Larson of Waterville and Christina A. (Michael) Martinitz of Abilene, by three grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Marc was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Michael, as a child, a brother John Lamoreaux, and two sisters, Barbara Provost and Rebecca Coan.

A memorial service is planned for 1:30 pm, Monday, May 30th, 2016, at the Waterville Community Center in Waterville with Mr. Ken Lamoreaux officiating. A private inurnment will be held at a later date.
