Charles J. 'Chuck' Hula, Jr, age 94, better known as Chuck, passed away Friday Morning August 18th at Blue Valley Senior Living, Blue Rapids. He was born March 7,1923 to Charles, Sr. and Agnes (Svoboda) Hula on the family farm outside Blue Rapids.

He was a lifelong farmer in the Blue Rapids area. Chuck enjoyed being outdoors, working in his shop tinkering and repairing things. He was a longtime member, treasurer, and deacon at the First Baptist Church in Blue Rapids, also was a 4-H leader. Chuck’s motto for life was “One day at a time”.

He married Vesta Claycamp on March 7, 1946, they lived on a farm east of Blue Rapids for most of their married life. They were blessed with 6 children; Joe Hula (Jann) Powell Butte, Oregon; Rose Hula, Marysville; Dorothy Jensen (Tom) Belton, Missouri; Jerry Hula (Jeanie) Covington, Georgia; John Hula (Lila) and Donna Fuller (Tony) both of Blue Rapids. He leaves behind 12 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren.

Chuck was preceded in death by his wife Vesta, a brother Ivan Hula, and a sister Angeline Bigham.

Viewing is from noon to 8:00 pm, Friday, with visitation from 6:30 to 8 pm, at Terry-Christie Funeral Home in Waterville. Funeral services are planned for 11:00 am, Saturday, August 26, 2017, at the First Baptist Church in Blue Rapids with Pastor Jeremy Henderson officiating. Music is to include a recorded selection of “Go Rest High On That Mountain” and a congregational Hymn of “One Day At A Time”. The musician is Breanna Henderson. Casket Bearers are; Jonathan Hula, Matthew Fuller, Mike Hula, Seth Garrison, Jacob Hula, Levi Lindsay, Joshua Stirler, Joel Stirler, Jamie Stirler and Justin Hulman. Burial is at the Czech-Moravian Cemetery.
